Frequently asked questions
How much louder can I make a file?
Up to +20 dB, which is about 10 times the amplitude. Quiet recordings usually need 3 to 12 dB. If the boost pushes peaks above 0 dBFS, the tool warns you, and the soft limiter rounds those peaks off instead of letting them distort.
What does normalize do?
Normalize finds the loudest sample in the file and changes the volume of the whole clip so that sample lands at the target level, for example -1 dBFS. It does not compress the audio or change the balance between quiet and loud parts.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The audio is decoded and processed in your browser with the Web Audio API. Your files never leave your device.
