Frequently asked questions
How is silence detected?
The tool scans the audio in 10 ms windows. A window is silent when its loudest sample is below the threshold you set. Raise the threshold for recordings with background noise and lower it for clean studio audio.
Will it cut words or notes?
It keeps one window of padding at each edge, and in gap mode it keeps a short pause (0.25 s by default) where a long gap was removed. A 5 ms crossfade hides each join. Use a lower threshold if quiet sounds are being removed.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The audio is decoded and processed in your browser with the Web Audio API. Your files never leave your device.
